Complete product design from scratch to PPAP. Now an FDA-listed medical device protecting against waterborne pathogens in hospitals.
Brief
AquaMedix needed a single-use faucet filter that reliably retains Legionella and Pseudomonas, does not splash back and meets the requirements for a medical device on the US market.
Solution
We designed the product from scratch: a low-profile housing with offset water flow that prevents backsplash and retrograde contamination, and a standard compliance connector. The hollow-fibre membrane cartridge is sourced by the customer from a Dutch manufacturer; everything else is our design. We handled the mould maker, prototypes, testing, drawings and PPAP.
Result
- The product is sold in the US as an FDA-listed medical device.
- 3-month service life after installation at 2.0 GPM, with no backsplash.
