Armrest Assembly Line

Brief

Joining the lower and upper armrest parts requires bolts tightened to a specified torque, a locking pin inserted and lubricated, repeatably and without operator error.

Solution

An assembly station with a rotating work plate controlled by a foot pedal. The operator loads the parts and bolts, an electric screwdriver tightens bolts and washers to the required torque, then the locking pin is inserted and lubricated.

Result

• Every joint tightened to the specified torque.
• The whole sequence at one station, without manual handling of the complete assembly.
